Passport and Travel Documents
Be sure to keep your travel documents in a safe place in your carry-on bags where you can easily reach them:
While you are still on the airplane, before landing in the U.S., you will be asked to fill out the I-94 Arrival/Departure Record. This document is very important and is referred to as "the I-94." It verifies your status and length of stay allowed in the U.S. Please write legibly. You should always keep this document inside your passport after entering the U.S. It will be taken from you when you leave the U.S.
At the Port of Entry
At the airport or border crossing when you first enter the U.S., you will be asked to show at least some of your travel documents. Have all the previously mentioned documents ready. The U.S. Immigration Officer will review your passport, visa, and Form I-20 or DS-2019.
At most international airports, the immigration inspection will include having your fingerprints scanned by an inkless device and your photograph digitally taken.
