GRADUATE NON-DEGREE PROGRAM INFORMATION
ELIGIBILITY FOR THE GRADUATE NON-DEGREE (GND) Program
- Medicine, Dentistry, Law, Business, Informatics, Library and Information Science, and Social Work Graduate Coursework – Applicants would be well advised to contact these schools directly regarding taking graduate coursework offered by these programs BEFORE applying to the Graduate Non-Degree Program. Graduate level courses offered by these schools are NOT usually available to GND students.
- Education Coursework – Students who want to take any education coursework for license renewal or
endorsements or are interested in master’s programs should contact the School of Education at ES 3131 or call
(317) 274-6801 for direct admission to the Education non-degree program. Once an admissions decision has been
reached, your application will be forwarded to the Office of International Affairs for final processing.
Students who are interested in certification for Indiana Teacher’s License will need to complete the undergraduate
visiting student/non-degree application. You can obtain this application from the Office of
International Affairs.
- Accounting Coursework– Non-degree students are permitted to enroll in only undergraduate accounting
courses. Students who want to take required accounting coursework to sit for the CPA exam will need to
complete the undergraduate visiting student/non-degree application and contact the Kelley School of
Business at BS 3024 (317) 274-2147 to obtain class authorizations. You can obtain this application from the
Office of International Affairs. Be prepared to furnish proof of undergraduate prerequisites for any 300-400
level accounting course.
Graduate Non-Degree classification is for, but not limited to, the following applicants who have completed at least 16 years of primary+secondary+tertiary education and have earned a university first degree OR have completed a university first degree that grants eligibility for graduate study in a recognized university in that same country:
- Students who are awaiting acceptance to a graduate program and wish to take graduate courses with the guidance and approval of a graduate degree program advisor.
- Students who want to take courses for professional or personal development.
- Students who have not decided what graduate program they want to study may apply as a graduate non-degree student to sample available programs. Please check with individual departments to see which classes are open to non-degree students.
- Students who are taking only graduate or a combination of graduate and undergraduate courses as prerequisites required for admission to a graduate program.
NOTICE:
All students admitted to graduate programs, including the Graduate Non-Degree, will be paying Graduate tuition rates regardless of the class level.
GRADUATE NON-DEGREE POLICIES
All Graduate Non-Degree students will be held responsible for following Graduate Non-Degree Policies.
Graduate Non-Degree policies may be changed or updated by the Graduate Affairs Committee.
- Graduate Non-Degree students must maintain a minimum Graduate Non-Degree cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.
- Graduate Non-Degree students may not take more than 18 credit hours in a single subject area unless they have written permission from the department to the GND Coordinator.
- Graduate Non-Degree students must register for at least one course every two years to maintain active admission status. If you do not have an active admission status, you need to complete the GND update form.
- Admission to the Graduate Non-Degree Program will not guarantee admission to a graduate degree program.
- Degree programs set limitations on the number of credit hours, if any, that a Graduate Non-Degree student may later apply toward a graduate degree.
- Graduate Non-Degree students may not register for any medical research course.
- Graduate Non-Degree students who need advice about specific course issues or authorizations for designated courses should contact the department that offers the course.
