School of Public Health Indiana University Bloomington Dean Indiana University Bloomington invites applications and nominations for the position of dean of the School of Public Health. Founded in 1946 as the School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation, the school has a rich history of outstanding achievements across academic fields related to health, wellness, and disease-prevention. Over its history, the school has garnered awards for its academic and research achievements and its commitment to community outreach through its many centers, institutes, and recreational facilities. The mission of the IU School of Public Health-Bloomington is to promote health among individuals and communities in Indiana, the nation, and the world through integrated multidisciplinary approaches to research and creative activity, teaching, and community engagement. The school has five academic departments, including Applied Health Science; Environmental Health; Epidemiology and Biostatistics; Kinesiology; and Recreation, Park, and Tourism Studies. The Dean serves as the chief academic and administrative officer for the IU School of Public Health-Bloomington, and reports directly to the Provost and Executive Vice President. Applicants for Dean must possess the ability to lead the school through the accreditation process with the Council for Education on Public Health. Applicants should also possess strong administrative, managerial, and communication skills; the ability to work effectively with the Provost and other university officials; the ability to attract external funding to support the school's strategic initiatives; and the ability to work effectively with alumni and public health professionals and administrators in the State of Indiana and beyond. The successful candidate will have a distinguished record of scholarship, teaching, professional experience, and public health service, and be appropriate for tenure as a full professor at Indiana University.
