Associate Deans and Regional Campus Directors Indiana University School of Medicine The Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) invites applications and nominations for visionary academic leaders to head IUSM Regional Campuses. Reporting to the Executive Associate Dean for Educational Affairs, ideal candidates will have strong experience in academic leadership, medical research, and medical education, particularly regional medical education within community settings. This is an opportunity for a skillful leader to shape the direction of a community's only medical campus within the strong, state-wide network of our academic medical center. Candidates should possess an MD, PhD, or MD/PhD. The IUSM Statewide System for Medical Education, which was established in 1971 and trains the second-largest medical student body in the U.S., includes the main campus in Indianapolis and eight additional campuses affiliated with IU and other Indiana universities. Over 50% of first and second year students are taught at a regional campus. From 2009-2014, IUSM has expanded opportunities for third and fourth-year clinical rotations to all of its regional campuses throughout the state. Associate Dean and Regional Campus Director at IUSM-Muncie: In partnership with Ball State University, IUSM-Muncie is home to sixteen faculty members along with >150 volunteer clinical faculty from the East-Central Indiana region instruct ~60 medical students annually. A close and continuing relationship exists between the IUSM-Muncie and IU Health-Ball Memorial Hospital residency programs where Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Transitional Year Residencies provide the largest graduate medical education opportunities outside of Indianapolis. Recent research faculty recruitment has resulted in substantial increases in extramural research funding from National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation to support research in the areas of neuroscience, epigenetics, and developmental biology. Associate Dean and Regional Campus Director at IUSM-South Bend: In partnership with the University of Notre Dame (ND), IUSM-SB is home to 25 clinical and research faculty members and >200 volunteer clinical faculty who instruct ~60 medical students annually. IUSM-SB has a close and continuing relationship with the region's major hospital systems including Memorial and St. Joseph's, both which house Family Medicine residency programs. Research faculty are members of an active extramurally funded interdisciplinary research community with existing strengths in cancer biology, infectious disease, neuroscience, and vascular biology. IUSM-SB faculty hold adjunct ND appointments and maintain active research collaborations with investigators at IUSM and ND, particularly the IU Simon Cancer Center, the Notre Dame Eck Institute for Global Health, the W.M. Keck Center for Transgene Research, and the Harper Cancer Research Institute, a joint partnership between IUSM-SB and ND.
