Professor and Vice Chair of Anesthesia Education/ Director of Simulation-Based Medical Education Indiana University School of Medicine This position is jointly-appointed by the Department of Anesthesia and Educational Affairs at the Indiana University School of Medicine. The faculty member will serve in a clinical capacity within the Department of Anesthesia at the Associate or Full Professor rank, clinical/tenure track, as Vice Chair for Education within the department and as Director of the Simulation-Based Medical Education program for the IU School of Medicine. The Director will have the primary goal of developing innovative medical education programs and curricula with an emphasis on using simulation based tools and techniques in medical education within and between the hospital and medical school. The overarching aim is to build processes that ensure safe, effective, and efficient learning for all physician learners in the current healthcare environment that challenges educational excellence. S/he will work to build effective collaborations between the various educational programs in the School of Medicine and partnering hospitals. Required Qualifications: 1) Credentials and experience necessary at the rank of associate or professor level in adult, pediatric or pain management sections of the Department of Anesthesia, Indiana University School of Medicine. Candidates must be board certified or board eligible 2) An MD, DO or equivalent degree and research accomplishments that would merit an appointment at the rank of associate or full professor 3) Advanced training, professional development, education or extensive experience in simulation-based education 4) Experience in program development, performance assessment and program evaluation 5) Exceptional teaching and interpersonal skills and be committed to collaboration with others to advance the educational mission of the School of Medicine Preferred Qualifications: 1) A PhD or EdD in addition to an MD 2) Experience in doing educational research and/or the development and dissemination of scholarly work in education Application Instructions: Priority deadline is Saturday, November 30, 2013.
