Indiana University School of Medicine Eugene and Marilyn Glick Eye Institute Indianapolis, IN Doctor of Optometry - Optometrist The Eugene and Marilyn Glick Eye Institute is currently recruiting for a Doctor of Optometry to direct operations for a satellite location. This position is on the clinical track and is titled Assistant Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology. Duties will include: examining patient's eyes to diagnose vision problems and eye diseases, and test patients' visual acuity, depth and color perception, as well as the ability to focus and coordinate the eyes. Will prescribe eyeglasses and contact lenses and provide vision therapy and low-vision rehabilitation. This position will analyze test results and develop a treatment plan. Will administer drugs to patients to aid in the diagnosis of vision problems and prescribe drugs to treat some eye diseases. Will provide preoperative and postoperative care to cataract patients, as well as to patients who have had laser vision correction or other eye surgery. As part of the optometrist job description, will diagnose conditions caused by systemic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure, referring patients to other health practitioners as needed. This position requires the Doctor of Optometry degree which requires the completion of a 4-year program at an accredited optometry school. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
