Assistant or Associate Research Professor The Department of Psychiatry at Indiana University School of Medicine is seeking applicants for a full-time Assistant or Associate Research Professor position. The primary activity of a Assistant or Associate Research Professor will be to conduct research in association with a highly dynamic and collaborative team working on understanding the neuronal mechanisms of anxiety disorders (e.g., panic disorder, social anxiety and posttraumatic stress disorder) and autism spectrum disorders. The collaborative team goals are to investigate the mechanisms involved in development of anxiety, fear and emotional memory formation/storage using variety of behavioral, neuroanatomical, molecular and electrophysiological techniques from wild-type, transgenic and knock-out rodent models. To be considered, applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in physiology, neuroscience or in a closely related field with at least 7 or more years of experience in cellular electrophysiology (whole-cell patch clamp from brain slices and neuronal cultures). The candidates must have previous experience with recording of long-term potentiation and long-term depression in limbic brain regions. Applicants are also required to have research expertise in pharmacology relative to G protein-coupled receptors and related neurotransmitter ion channels and transporters. The successful candidate must be able to perform self-directed work, and possess excellent collaborative skills with demonstrated experience writing manuscripts and research grant proposals. The selected candidate will be expected to further develop, manage, and maintain his or her own independent, extramurally funded research program(s). The research expertise in lab animal (rodent) behavioral models is desirable. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in US without any restrictions.
