Academic Preparation Required:  Anatomic and Clinical or Clinical Pathology certification.  Completion of a transfusion medicine fellowship is required.

Academic Preparation Preferred:  Subspecialty certification is preferred.

Experience Required:  Strong service skills and interest in education and research.

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine seeks an academic transfusion medicine physician.  This is a tenure or clinical-track faculty position; rank will be determined by qualifications and experience.

The Division of Transfusion Medicine is responsible for the transfusion service therapeutic apheresis and cellular therapy laboratories of a five-hospital complex of Indiana University Health including Methodist Hospital, University Hospital, Riley Children's Hospital, Indiana University Health West Medical Center and Indiana University Health North Medical Center.  Annually, the transfusion service issues approximately 47,000 red cell units, and the apheresis service performs over 1,200 therapeutic procedures.  The successful candidate will participate in intradepartmental and hospital committees as well as tecah medical students, residents, and fellows.

Applicants must have strong service skills and a commitment to education as well as interest in clinical or basic research.  Certification by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic and clinical, or clinical pathology is required.  Completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship in transfusion medicine/blood banking is required, however, applicants currently in a transfusion medicine/blood bank fellowship program are also encouraged to apply.  Subspecialty certification in transfusion medicine/blood banking is desirable.
