Full Time Faculty Position - Public Relations IU School of Journalism at IUPUI Description and Responsibilities: The School of Journalism invites applications for a contract position of Lecturer in Public Relations with interest and expertise in public affairs, corporate, organizational, and/or strategic communication. Primary responsibilities include teaching courses in the Public Relations concentration such as Principles of Public Relations, Public Relations Writing, Public Relations Research and Planning, Public Relations Tactics and Techniques and Careers in Public Relations, as well as other related PR support courses. Additional instructional responsibilities may include basic journalism and writing courses and graduate level public relations classes as specialized expertise is available. Additional responsibilities include assisting in curriculum design and program development related to the Public Relations concentration in particular, advising and mentoring students, and serving on college and university committees. An active agenda of creative professional activities is expected. Incumbent may also be responsible for advising and mentoring student organization such as PRSSA and/or the student run public relations agency, Jaguar Communications as well as selected recruiting programs and visits on behalf of the School of Journalism. Lecturer faculty must demonstrate effectiveness in the following categories: 1) teaching and 2) institutional and/or community service. Qualifications: Required: MA in Public Relations or Communication required. Accreditation in Public Relations from the Public Relations Society of America is required. Successful candidates must have a minimum of 20 years of professional public relations. Demonstrated evidence of successful teaching experience at both graduate and undergraduate levels is expected. Preferred: In addition, we are looking for candidates who have both corporate and agency professional experience. The public relations program at IUPUI is expanding rapidly and we seek a candidate to participate meaningfully in curriculum and program development. Salary Range: $40,00 - $44,000 depending on qualifications.
