Spinal Instrumentation

The Department of Neurological Surgery at Indiana University is recognized as a leader and innovator in the field of internal fixation of the spine in the management of traumatic, neoplastic, congenital and degenerative conditions of the spine. We are fully independent in the anterior and posterior instrumentation of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine and train our residents in these techniques. In the last ten years, all residents who had finished training at Indiana University feel competent in the instrumentation of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine including pedicle screw instrumentation.

The scientific collaboration between IU Neurosurgery and Purdue University Center for Paralysis Research has lead to novel therapies for the treatment of human spinalcord injury including human trials in Oscillating Field Stimulation.
