Welcome to Voices.

Thanks for joining us for the fourth volume. On behalf of the Women's

Caucus and the Feminist and Women Studies Division of the National

Communication Association, welcome. This is your newsletter and

your editors hope it remains an inclusive voice for members.

We have several feature stories this year that you'll want to check out:

  • Byerly Feature: "Contradictions, Pitfalls and Promises: The Uncertain Path for Feminists and Leftists in Today's Academy" by Carolyn M. Byerly

  • Mentoring Feature: "Reflections on Mentoring: A Dialogue with Women's Caucus Graduate Student Representatives" by LaKresha Graham, Rachel Anderson Droogsma, Cerise L. Glenn, Katherine J. Denker, and Bhavana Upadyaya

  • Genocide Feature: "Genocide Relief: The Journey of a Cross Cultural Communication Course" by Tracey Owens Patton

  • Tenure Feature: "Negotiating the Tenure Track: Strategies that Acknowledge Gender, Institutional Affiliation, and Family Circumstance" by Karrin Vasby Anderson, Sarah Bonewits Feldner, Krista Hoffmann-Longtin, Claire H. Procopio, Kristina Horn Sheeler, and Helen Tate

  • AEJ CSW news: "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Podcast," by Von Whitmore

As you explore the newsletter and the division and caucus

web pages, we hope you will enjoy the web format and that

it remains a vehicle enabling communication among all of us.

We also hope to facilitate communication between NCA women

and our sister organizations. Bookmark the site and check back often.

Thank you to the IU School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI for web hosting.
