Resources

This page will contain a variety of resources relevant to lectures or general interest about Indians. Use it as you have need. For other web sites and how to evaluate sites with Indian content, go to the Web Links page.

Culture Area Map
This  version of NA culture areas is rather standard. Some might quibble about what to call certain areas and the  precise placement of tribal names.

Reservation Map

Wikipedia offers a good discussion of reservations with lots of links to supporting materials. Included is the Bureau of Indian Affairs map of reservations as well as a listing by state.

Indianz.com

Indianz.com is a fantastic resource bringing you news about Indian people you pretty much can't get elsewhere. There are a range of forums to look at, news stories culled from the wire services that often don't make it into mainstream papers, and materials from Indian papers from around the country. Plus, much, much more!

Native America Calling

Native America Calling (NAC) is an amazing site. Each week they bring you a web broadcast of their radio call-in program done by and for Indian people. The subjects are varied, as you can see from the materials from NAC I've assigned you to listen too. Each broadcast has some advertising first, so be patient. However, the advertising is often as interesting as the show. They have an extensive archive going back several years.

Indian Country Today

Owned and operated by the Oneida Nation of New York, ICT is the leading Indian newspaper with both national and local news. They have their own reporters and a wide variety of columnists who provide unique perspectives. Some local newsstands have hard copy and the IUPUI library has back issues on microfilm ( call number E78.S63 I53) and online versions since 1997 (check IUPUI Library Catalog for URL to it).
