sPSR provides students the chance to participate in sociopolitical issues and become active participants in the community. sPSR is an offshoot of its parent organization, Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR), which in 1995, won the Nobel Peace Prize for its work in the elimination of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction. sPSR has been involved in community events that include Habitat for Humanity, Afghan Book Donation Drive, Meals on Wheels, and aTtrigger Lock campaign. In addition, sPSR sponsored noon lunches examining such topics as AIDS awareness and Doctors without Borders.
