IT resources: SIG printing, teleconferencing

SIG Printing

Each registered Student Interest Group (SIG) in Indianapolis has 60 free color copies per month through the Media Productions Center. If you are a representative of a SIG that needs copying, please contact iupuimpc@iupui.edu with your group's name, the number of copies you would like, and your attachment in .pdf format.

Please note that you must be registered through IUPUI for this service. If you are registered only through the Medical Student Council (MSC), you may contact one of the MSC Executive Council Officers to use some of the MSC's monthly allotment on a first come, first serve basis.

Teleconferencing instructions

There has been a lot of confusion lately on how to connect to Video Bridge to join the MSC meeting from regional campuses, so we have created an instruction on how to connect from IU sites, non-IU sites, or your phone, adapted from ones provided by Digital Media Network Services.

These and other IT instructions have been added to the General Student Resources page. Please take a look at your convenience and let us know if there is any item you would like to add or if you notice an outdated item, and we will respond to your request swiftly.

SCTF - Eligibility and Member Selection

  • Membership on the Student-Computer Task Force is available to all students in all School of Medicine class years.
  • Applicants are encouraged to have a working knowledge of computers and educational technology, though these are not requirements for appointment to the Student-Computer Task Force.
  • Each year, two students are recommended to the Dean for appointment to the Student-Computer Task Force by the Medical Student Council.  In most cases, both students are appointed by the Dean to serve on the Task Force.  Occasionally, additional members are recommended to the Dean or are appointed to the SCTF, based on recommendations of staff and faculty serving on the committee.
  • Appointment to the SCTF shall be for a minimum of 2 years.  Should a student wish to continue on the Task Force after 2 years, it is up to to the other Task Force members to decide whether or not a student shall continue their appointment for additional time.

SCTF - Entity Description

The SCTF is comprised of IUSM Indianapolis students, faculty and staff.  This committee meets quarterly to discuss technology issues.  One of its primary purposes is to consider projects and make decisions regarding spending of the student technology fees paid by IUSM students at the Indianapolis campus.

SCTF - Student Responsibilities

  • Students shall attend all meetings of the Student Computer Task Force.
  • Students shall act as liaisons between the student population and the staff / faculty membership of the SCTF.
  • Students will be asked to represent the opinions, goals, and ideas of the student population in technology-related issues.
  • Students are each granted one vote on the SCTF, equivalent in value to that of a staff or faculty member's vote.
  • Students are encouraged to have a working knowledge of current technologies available for use on campus and the devices and software currently utilized by students within the School of Medicine.  Technical knowledge is not an absolute requirement of the position, but may improve a student's chance of being recommended for the committee following their interview.
  • Membership in the Student Computer Task Force involves the distribution of the School of Medicine's student technology funds, so a working knowledge of finance may be valuable.
  • Student members are encouraged to "think outside the box" and to bring novel ideas to the committee for improvement of technology-related resources for student use within the School of Medicine.
