Indiana University School of Medicine values its students and the contributions they make to the School of Medicine. In order to demonstrate its complete commitment to inclusion of student input in all aspects of student life and school administration, it includes two fourth-year medical students on the Admissions Committee and considers their participation invaluable. With the inclusion of medical students its admissions committee, Indiana University School of Medicine joins the large majority of American medical schools that also include students on their admissions committees. The student members of the Admissions Committee at Indiana University School of Medicine are full participants in the admissions and candidate selection process, as well as full voting members on the admissions committee. As members of the School of Medicine student body who have completed the majority of their required academic and clinical training, fourth year medical students are positioned to bring their unique perspective on the challenges that will confront future medical students to the Admissions Committee. To participate in the selection of future medical students, and by extension, future colleagues in the medical profession, is both an honor and a privilege.
