STUDY PURPOSE:
You are invited to participate in a research study of parenting views and practices. We are interested in understanding what sources parents find useful in their parenting practices, how parents use different parenting information, and what views parents across the country hold regarding parenting issues. We are interested in getting responses from mothers of small children, ages 4 and under.

NUMBER OF PEOPLE TAKING PART IN THE STUDY:
If you agree to participate, you will be one of several thousand people invited to complete an online survey questionnaire.

PROCEDURE FOR THE STUDY:
If you agree to be in the study, you will participate by answering questions anonymously on an on-line survey here on our website. If you choose to be identified in order to participate further in other childrearing studies, you may provide your email address to us by e-mailing it to momviews@iupui.edu. It is not necessary to provide your email address if you DO NOT wish to participate in further research. After the research is completed you will be able to read a report on the results of the study here on our website.

RISKS OF TAKING PART IN THE STUDY:
While participating in the study, the risks are minimal. You may encounter a question you feel uncomfortable answering, if so, please go on to the next question. You are under no obligation to answer any questions that make you uncomfortable.

BENEFITS OF TAKING PART IN THE STUDY:
You will have the opportunity to discuss an important but often overlooked aspect of women’s lives, childbearing and childcare. Your insights will provide valuable feedback to the researchers which will be used to better understand how current childcare information influences the actual practice of childcare. You will also have the opportunity, if you choose, to read an on-line online summary of information from the study at our website. You will not need to provide any identifying information in order to view the online summary of information from the study.

CONFIDENTIALITY:
Efforts will be made to keep your personal information confidential. We cannot guarantee absolute confidentiality. Your personal information may be disclosed if required by law. Your identity will be held in confidence in reports in which the study may be published. Organizations that may inspect and/or copy the research records for quality assurance and data analysis include groups such as the investigators and their research associates, and the IUPUI/Clarian Institutional Review Board or its designees.

COSTS/COMPENSATION:
There is no financial compensation for participating in this study.

Taking part in this study is voluntary. You may choose not to take part or may leave the study at any time. Leaving the study will not result in any penalty or loss of benefits to which you are entitled.
