Alternative Spring Break - Domestic
WHAT: A week-long service-learning project in which students serve as camp counselors at Boggy Creek, a family camp for children with serious illnesses. Students are assigned to a child and family and spend the week helping the family with their needs.
WHO: All medical students may apply. 7-10 students will be chosen for the trip. Selected students must participate in 5-6 orientation sessions prior to the trip and re-orientation sessions for reflection after the trip.
WHEN: Spring Break
WHERE: The Boggy Creek Gang Camp is a year-long camp located in sunny Orlando, Florida. For the past two years, students have helped children on ventilators and their families enjoy the week's activities of games, crafts, and arts.
