| Get Ready for a "REAL" Job with an Internship in Psychology |
Why seek out an internship? Three reasons: it allows you the opportunity to explorea career area of interest, it offers you experiencein a job field, and it often lead to a “real” jobin the end. In today’s rough job market, there’s no better way to hook into a field of work than through an internship. In psychology we believe it’s very important for our students heading into the job market after graduation to apply knowledge and skills, and to gain relevant work experience through an internship. We are very pleased to introduce to you a new course beginning fall ’09, Internship in Psychology (B421). The objectives of the Internship in Psychology course are to apply knowledge and skills from psychology to a specific work setting, to apply and further develop “work” skills, and to explore career options and gain work experience in your area of interest.
As you consider your course schedule for fall ‘09, think about the feasibility and benefits of enrolling in Internship in Psychology (B421) for 1-3 credit hours. NOTE: This course will not be listed in the course offerings through the registrar for another few weeks. As a 400 level course, 3 credits of B421 can satisfy part of the specialization requirement, or can fit in as an elective. See Psych Career & Academic Advising Announcement in OnCourse for a link to the Syllabus, Proposal Form, and details about 2 Informational Brown Bag Lunches this month. |
