Presentation:  COUNTER (e-journal statistics) – Carole Gall and Rick Ralston described their research on using and evaluating COUNTER. COUNTER is a membership group of libraries, publishers and library associations charged with developing standards for statistical reporting of e-journal usage.

 

Call to Order:  The meeting was called to order at 10:20 a.m. by Ann O’Bryan. The roster was circulated and the minutes were approved as amended.

 

Announcements:

 

Fran Brahmi is the recipient of the IU Trustees Teaching Award, pending approval of the Trustees.

 

Starting July 1, IUPUI-affiliates will pay $0.01 per copy at the University Library using JagTag or OneCard. Color copies are still $1.00 per copy.

 

Elaine Skopelja takes over as Library Faculty Chair. Please email program ideas for next year to her.

 

Library Director’s Reports: 

 

Law Library—Judith Anspach

 

Janice Watson, Law Library, has been named a winner of the 2005 IUPUI Gerald L. Bepko Staff Council Spirit Award. SLIS brochures about the dual degree program including with the law school are available. Contact Judy Anspach if you would like copies. Two students are enrolled in the JD-MLS program. A group from Villanova is scheduled to visit the law school. Another SLIS intern (from B-LAW) will be at the library this fall.

 

Medical Library—Carole Gall

 

None.

 

University Library—Polly Boruff-Jones

 

Three librarians have received Teaching awards: Polly, Randall Halverson, and Randi Stocker.

 

Polly also has been promoted to Associate Librarian and will be tenured as of next year.

 

The Minde Browning Professional Development Committee is seeking new members.

 

 

 

 

Library Faculty Election

 

The election was held. Results will be posted on the Committees, Officers pages of the web site.

Randall thanked the nominating committee (Randall, Miriam and Rick) for their work.
