IUPUI Libraries has selected the MetaLib
federated search engine product to implement.
A working group is working through the implementation process. Next Fall is the goal
for a reasonable, stable release. IUB has
selected a SIRSI federated search engine product. Feeling is that in the future all campuses
will come together on a single federated search engine platform - but for now
IUPUI Libraries will use MetaLib. One
particular goal of the implementation is to Link through Oncourse to create
full text (SFX) reading lists as an alternative to maintaining electronic reserves. Linking works around copyright issues.

IN Academic Libraries group - formed
2 1/2 years ago for Lilly Endowment grant pursuits - did not receive a grant so
is regrouping and pursuing statewide initiatives and programs. The group offers a way for larger Universities
and Colleges to collaborate with smaller private Colleges; however, a draw back
is concern over access to small, specialized collections.
-
