IULFC:
Librarians Day is May 9th in Kokomo. The format is small groups in the morning, speeches and reports during lunch and group discussion in the afternoon.
IULFC Faculty Standards: no report.
IULFC Research:
Mahnaz Moshfegh reported that the research survey was sent to directors and supervisors with limited results.
Faculty Review Board: no report.
IUPUI P&T:
Fran Brahmi was invited to participate in a feedback session reviewing service documentation created by faculty who are actively involved in service activities. In light of efforts to equalize the three components of work, these kinds of discussions may result in models to provide assistance and guidance.
Barbara Cambridge, co-organizer of the "Valuing Professional Service Workshops" looked at at copy of our Service Document and thought that there might be many units interested in using the Librarian document as a model for adresssing the issues of the Task Force on Service document within their own units.
Dental Library: no report
University Libraries:
Many are currently in the process interviewing for 3 librarian positions.
Some renovations are being planned. The Philanthropic Library will be moved and some carrels displaced.
Horizon to be here mid June with the circulation modules. Mid-July should see the launching of other modules, but they will not be ready for use by consortia. The windows package is expected in Oct./Nov.; Acquisitions package with security in Nov./Dec. IP holdings will temporarily show in NOTIS, but will be removed. Patrons will have access to both Horizon and NOTIS, but will need to take two steps to determine all campus holdings as they will not be integrated. At this point, it appears as though the SNA connection will disappear before the final implementation of Horizon. (Double keying to be the work around.)
The teams are working on Intranet sites for their work.
Law Library: no report
Medical Library:
The SDG for electronic journals was not funded. Efforts have been directed at pursuing alternative methods of funding. The most promising is the potential to become a conduit for providing Medline access and support to regional hospitals. Is exciting but time consuming.
Julie Fore will convene a letters committee in the near future.
Minde Browning will send the service document and the dossier preparation revisions to Dean Plater.
Faculty dossier are available for review in the Center for Teaching and Learning.
Many interested in the librarians version of the service document as a model for the many units who will have to struggle with the same issues.
Respectfully submitted,
Minde Browning, Secretary
