Committee Reports

Nominating Committee. Looking for new and old faces to fill the usual positions. You can now submit your nominations for the various positions via webform. Point your browser at: http://www.medlib.iupui.edu/medcai/nominate.html

Bylaws Committee. At the November meeting, the Bylaws Committee was asked to look at the the composition of the Faculty Standards Committee in the light of the desire to have both tenured and untenured representation on the committee.

VIII-4. The IUPUI Library Faculty Standards Committee shall be composed of four (4) members, (add) at least two of whom shall be tenured (end add); one (1) from University Libraries, one (1) from Medicine, one (1) from Dental, and one (1) from Law ... (The rest reads as before).

There were no comments on the proposed text. The amendment will be distributed to the membership via e-mail and voted on at the April meeting.

IUPUI Campus P&T Committee. Fran Brahmi described the committee's working process. As in the past years, the committee was receptive of the librarian criteria. The librarian criteria are summarized and distributed to the entire committee which is helpful in educating them about the differences. On the whole they are satisfied with librarian dossiers, but they do think they are a bit thick (we do not have to list every thing!).

Task Force on Service. The Faculty Standards Committee (FSC) continued the work of the Special Study Group in revising the Faculty Service document to reflect librarian criteria and standards. The FSC met and revised the document to reflect input from IUPUI librarians and Marilyn Shaver. Chair Sue London outlined the particular wording changes. The document will now be sent on to catch up with the Faculty Task Force Document.

IULFC. There was no fall meeting because of a lack of agenda items. A February 26 meeting is Librarians Day is May 9 at Kokomo. Please contact Nancy Eckermann with program suggestions

Faculty Standards. The committee has not been given any charge and consequently has not met. Randi suggested the the Task Force on Service Document be sent to IULFC as an informational item. Since there is a Strategic Directions Proposal on the issue, IULFC may want to pursue it further.

Faculty Review Board. No report.

IULFC Research Committee. The committee was charged with looking into the advances in leave and support for librarian research. They have decided to re-survey the libraries utilizing the structure of 1994 research survey. Dean Thorin is exploring the possibility of librarian SLIS fellowships to promote research initiatives.
