Questions submitted by the IUPUI Library Faculty for Guest Speaker
Barbara Fischler
- With the ever-expanding technology, has SLIS considered
offering short, professional development courses
(workshops, seminars, etc) for librarians at IUPUI? (Ex: A
refresher reference course using the WWW as a reference
tool?).
- What is the future plan/vision the SLIS presence at IUPUI?
- How do you see the relationship between IUPUI and
Bloomington SLIS programs evolving?
- Please comment on the Medical Informatics/Health Sciences
Librarianship curricula that may be offered by SLIS in the
future.
- If local professional organizations (example: Indiana
Special Libraries Association) wish to recruit and include
SLIS students in their activities, what types of activities
and programs do you feel would be most helpful?
- Does SLIS see a market for practicing librarians returning
to school to work on the MIS degree?
