|Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance – Karen Metzger|
|firstname.lastname@example.org||Karen (Donaldson) Metzger joined the IUPUI staff in July 2011 as Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance. She came to IUPUI after serving the same post at Mercer University. She oversees IUPUI's entire compliance department and serves as the athletics department's administrator for the volleyball program.
Since coming to IUPUI, she's spearheaded a complete overhaul of the department's compliance manual, while also streamlining essential processes within the department.
While at Mercer, Metzger was responsible for the compliance needs for all 14 sports, totaling more than 200 student-athletes. She also was a member of the school's Athletics Council and Student-Athlete Eligibility Committee and chaired the Women's Basketball Grant Program Committee. In addition, she organized a professional sports counseling panel to advise the school's elite student-athletes.
Prior to that, the Rome, Ga.-native spent one year as a Postgraduate Intern on the NCAA Enforcement Staff in Indianapolis. While at the NCAA, she worked on legislation related to agents, gambling and amateurism while also processing numerous cases. She served as the finance chair for the Emerging Leaders Seminar.
Metzger's athletics experience dates back to her undergrad days at Georgia Tech, where she earned her B.S. in Science, Technology and Culture in 2006. While at Georgia Tech, she served as an academic tutor and worked on the baseball gameday staff. She later earned her J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2009. At Alabama, she was the senior editor of the "Law And Psychology Review" and was President of the Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society. She also served as a Graduate Assistant for Compliance for the Crimson Tide.
Metzger is a graduate of the NCAA/NACWAA Institute for Administrative Advancement. She is on the Legislation and Governance Committee for NACWAA and a member of NAAC. In addition, she was added to the NCAA Division I Recruiting and Athletics Personnel Issues Cabinet in the Summer of 2013.
Metzger and her husband J.T. have one daughter, Emily, and reside in Martinsville, Ind.. She is in active volunteer in the community and enjoys cooking, reading, and playing with her dog, Windy.
|Compliance Coordinator – Jared Chasey|
Jared Chasey joined the IUPUI Athletics Department as Compliance Coordinator in January 2012. He is responsible for all monitoring systems and oversees recruiting and playing/practice seasons, including CARA logs. In addition, he assists with rules education and interpretations. He also serves as webmaster for the compliance office website and manages all compliance forms.
Chasey lives in downtown Indianapolis. He enjoys reading fiction novels, watching film, and playing board games.
