|Associate Athletics Director for Compliance – Karen Metzger|
|firstname.lastname@example.org||Karen (Donaldson) Metzger joined the IUPUI staff in July 2011 as Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance and was elevated to Associate Athletics Director for Compliance in September 2014. She came to IUPUI after serving the same post at Mercer University. She oversees IUPUI's entire compliance department and previously served as the athletics department's administrator for the volleyball program.
Since coming to IUPUI, she's spearheaded a complete overhaul of the department's compliance manual, while also streamlining essential processes within the department and updating the compliance education program.
While at Mercer, Metzger was responsible for the compliance needs for all 14 sports, totaling more than 200 student-athletes. She also was a member of the school's Athletics Council and Student-Athlete Eligibility Committee and chaired the Women's Basketball Grant Program Committee. In addition, she organized a professional sports counseling panel to advise the school's elite student-athletes.
Prior to that, the Rome, Georgia native spent one year as a Postgraduate Intern on the NCAA Enforcement Staff in Indianapolis. While at the NCAA, she worked on cases related to agents, gambling and amateurism while also processing secondary violations. She served as the finance chair for the Emerging Leaders Seminar.
Metzger's athletics experience dates back to her undergrad days at Georgia Tech, where she earned her B.S. in Literature, Media, and Communication in 2006. While at Georgia Tech, she served as an academic tutor and worked on the baseball gameday staff. She later earned her J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2009. At Alabama, she was the senior editor of the "Law And Psychology Review" and was President of the Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society. She also served as a Graduate Assistant for Compliance for the Crimson Tide.
Metzger is a graduate of the NCAA/NACWAA Institute for Administrative Advancement. She maintains active NAAC Certification and serves as a member of the Reasonable Standards Committee. She is also an active member of NACWAA and previously served on the NCAA Division I Recruiting and Athletics Personnel Issues Cabinet.
Metzger and her husband J.T. have two children, Emily and Jack, and reside in Martinsville, Ind.. She is an active volunteer in the community and enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time on the lake.
|Assistant Director of Compliance – Brittney Cope|
|email@example.com||Indiana-native Brittney Cope joined the IUPUI Athletics Department in September 2015 as Assistant Director of Compliance and will work with all 18 varsity sports. Cope comes to IUPUI from Middle Tennessee State where she spent one year as a compliance assistant. Cope brings a wide range of athletics background to IUPUI, having worked in the athletic departments at Marian University, the University of Indianapolis, Indiana University, Valparaiso and MTSU.
Cope earned her Bachelor of Science in sport performance from Marian in 2012, while also working in the sports information office for all four years. She also completed an internship at UIndy during her senior year, working primarily in compliance. She earned her Master of Science in Sports Management and Athletic Administration from Indiana University in 2013, while also working with media relations, ticketing and academic services over the course of a year. She later served as Compliance Assistant at Valpo where she was in charge of rules education, monitoring and reporting and administrative tasks. She served a similar role at Middle Tennessee State before coming to IUPUI at the start of the 2015-16 athletic year.
