2006 performers
We welcome all those who would like to showcase a performing art. In the past we have had musicians (opera, country, violin, xylophone and flute, rock bands, jazz bands, piano, barber shop quartets), dance (ballet, hip-hop, belly, gypsy and Middle Eastern), stand-up comedians, story tellers, improvisational groups, and much more. If you are interested in performing in this years show, please e-mail Jim Smith (jlsmith1@iupui.edu). Please read the Performer Guidelines below so you are aware the co-chairs expectations of every performer
Performer Guidelines::
Each performer is given no more than five minutes to complete their presentation. Under special situations, performers may be allotted an extension, but approval is required from Jim Smith (jlsmith1@iupui.edu) or one of the other co-chairs. NO ONE is allowed to have a performance longer than eight minutes (including set-up and tear-down). We ask that you be considerate and take only the time necessary to complete your performance. The longer each performance is the smaller the number of performers we will be able to showcase.The auditorium in the Conference Center has reasonable acoustics. In the past, the Conference Center has done a wonderful job in the past in accommodating performers' technical needs. However, please keep in mind that auditorium was originally designed for oral presentations, not rock bands. Please note that it may be difficult to meet all your technical needs but we will do our best.
Also be aware that the stage is carpeted.
Auditions
will be in held on Sunday March 19.
It will take place in the auditorium in the basement of the IU School of
Music building. Every performer MUST participate in
auditions. Each performer is asked to perform approximately 30
seconds of their performance. We are NOT looking for perfection
but rather adequate talent and preparedness. Information about the
time and location of the auditions will sent out in an e-mail. If
you are unable to make the auditions or need to be scheduled at a
certain time please e-mail
Jim Smith (jlsmith1@iupui.edu).
Dress rehearsal will be in the morning on Saturday April 1 beginning at 10:00am. It will take place in the auditorium of the Conference Center. Each performer MUST be present for the dress rehearsal. Starting at 10:15am, we will run through each performance in the order they will be during the show. Each performer will be given 5 minutes blocks. The goal of the rehearsal is to determine lighting and sounds levels. Typically, there will not be enough time for each performer to play through their entire performance. If you feel that you need additional time practicing in the auditorium please e-mail Jim Smith (jlsmith1@iupui.edu) There should be sufficient time after the dress rehearsal during the afternoon.
Also, performers are also required to
assist in selling tickets during lunch hour the week before the show..
