Early Outreach
The road to college starts long before high school. In fact, a number of studies suggest that college and universities must begin promoting what it takes to get into college as early as the fourth grade. This is why the Office for Diversity Access and Achievement seeks to promote college awareness as early as possible. This is done through a number of presentations, hands-on activities and exercises that promote the value and necessity of post secondary education. Additionally we seek to assist parents in identifying those resources available to assist them in preparing their child for future college enrollment. Given our limited resources we may not be able to attend all event requests received so please contact us early for the best chances of be added to our outreach calendars.
High School Outreach
In addition to our traditional Undergraduate Admissions recruitment staff, the ODAA are available to add that special “flava” to the high school visit. We specialize in providing information that is of interest to prospective students of color and their families, while also providing a unique view into why IUPUI is becoming a first choice for students of color across the state and nationally. Community Outreach
It has been a long standing practice of the Office for Diversity Access and Achievement to support community events which provide an opportunity to promote postsecondary education options. Understanding that our school systems should not have sole responsibility for providing this information, ODAA regularly participates in college awareness events hosted by local churches, community centers, non-profit organizations and more.
