Biotechnology student at Ivy Tech College.
Research Interests: One of my areas of research are isolating islets from mice which are then used for GSIS or calcium imaging. I also do H and E staining of the pancreas or other tissues, as well as immunocytochemistry for islet specific proteins, such as insulin, glucagon, and Pdx1. Also, I run PCR for genotyping of our mouse colonies.

Education:
B.S.: Biology Minor: Social Science and Medicine (2007), Indiana University, Bloomington, IN
Research Interests: As a research specialist in the Department of Neurology at the Keck School of Medicine, I assisted in the study of the autoimmune disease multiple sclerosis. Additionally, I investigated the relationship between Myelin Transcription Factor-1 (MyT1) and the invasiveness of the brain tumor glioblastoma multiforme.
As a new member to the lab team, I am focusing on examining the role and function of Pdx-1 in glucose stimulated insulin gene transcriptional activity.
