The School of Physical Education and Tourism Management

IUPUI is an urban research and academic health sciences campus, with 22 schools and academic units granting degrees in more than 200 programs from both Indiana University and Purdue University.

The School of Physical Education and Tourism Management is IUPUI’s oldest academic unit. Formerly known as Normal College of the American Gymnastic Union, it also is the oldest existing school for the preparation of physical education teachers in the United States and celebrated its 100-year anniversary in Indianapolis in 2007.

The school became home to the Department of Tourism, Conventions, and Event Management in 1994. It also administers the Department of Military Science, the Intramural and Recreational Sports Office, and Indiana University’s family camp, Camp Brosius.
