ABOUT THE I-LIGHT SYMPOSIUM

The I-Light optical fiber infrastructure is a unique, high-speed network connecting Indiana University Bloomington, Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis, and Purdue University in West Lafayette with each other and with Abilene, the national high-speed Internet2 research and education network. Plans are well underway for I-Light 2, which will provide advanced connectivity to other Indiana higher education institutions.

The goals of the I-Light Symposium are:

  • To disseminate information about, and prompt interest in, the use of the capabilities of the I-Light network for advanced computing, visualization, and collaboration applications;
  • To foster and enhance collaboration among researchers and educators at universities and colleges within the State of Indiana; and
  • To demonstrate advances and applications made possible by advanced networking, visualization, and virtual reality.

The I-Light Symposium is attended by more than 200 individuals, representing institutions of higher education from across Indiana.
