Objectives for Section 3: Aligning Assessment Measures with Course Objectives

In Section 2 of this module, you learned how well-written objectives provide students with a map for the course and provide you with a foundation for designing assessment. In this section of the module, you will be using the objectives you wrote previously to develop an assessment strategy for your course.

Assessment can be defined as the evaluation of an observable performance. Criteria are assigned and used to evaluate learning.
Upon completion of this section of the module, you will be able to

• recognize why there should be an alignment of assessment strategies with objectives.
• define reliability and validity.
• select assessment strategies that align with your objectives.
