A well-designed course (and syllabus) is essential for educators seeking to go beyond “service that happens to take place in the community” to intentionally integrating community engagement in ways that both strengthen student learning outcomes and honor the principles of community partnership. In this session, we will discuss unique elements that comprise a well-designed service learning course and how to draw that out in the syllabus. Attendees are welcomed to bring a draft syllabus to work on as we will spend active time applying what we learn to our own teaching practice.

Morgan Studer, the Director of Faculty and Community Resources, is the workshop facilitator. Click here to learn more and here to register for the workshop.
