The IUPUI Arts & Humanities Institute, in partnership with the Office of International Affairs, is hosting a reception to celebrate the growing collaboration with Newcastle University in the United Kingdom, and also the publication of Rivers of the Anthropocene by University of California Press, which has grown from this unique partnership.
This exciting volume presents the work and research of a network of international scientists, social scientists, humanists, artists, policy makers, and community organizers working to produce innovative transdisciplinary research on global freshwater systems. The essays address the challenge in studying the intersection of biophysical and human sociocultural systems in the age of the Anthropocene.
Through their partnership, IUPUI and Newcastle University have conducted a successful student exchange project through the School of Liberal Arts for nearly a decade and with the School of Dentistry since 2015. In addition, faculty from a range of schools, including Liberal Arts, Science, Dentistry, and the Lugar Center for Renewable Energy, have visited our partner courtesy of Ersamus+ funding from the European Union. Erasmus+ has also facilitated the visits of Newcastle PhD students in the fields of chemistry and informatics, and we hope that IUPUI students will also take advantage of this reciprocal opportunity.
During this event, there will be a live-link to Newcastle and an opportunity to hear from university leaders about the impact of the partnership and the new and exciting directions in which it is heading. All are welcome.
