Course Requirements

In addition to a midterm and final, there will be quizzes and writing assignments announced in advance. Students will also write two short papers based on the reading of longer assignments("Oedipus," and "The Life of Charlemagne. More information will be given later on the papers.

Be sure you understand the school's policy on plagiarism (cheating). Those guilty of it will be dealt with in accordance with the regulations spelled out in the School of Liberal Arts Bulletin, p. 21.

The relative weight of these assignments in determining the final grade will be as follows:

Class grade: (quizzes, assignments & class participation) 40%

2 papers 15%

Midterm 20%

Final 25%
