Teaching specialties: Afro-American studies, American education, urban, recent American, and Afro-American history.

Publications: Editor and contributor, The State of Black Indianapolis: 1994 (Indianapolis Urban League, 1994); articles concerning Afro-American studies and American education in Journal of Negro History, Harvard Educational Review, and Black History News & Notes.

Recipient of Lilly Open Faculty Fellowship; scholar-in-residence, Pennsylvania State University, summer 1994. Service in promoting the teaching and study of Afro-American history in the local community, state, and nation.
