This class, which is the department's capstone course, will examine themes related to immigration and the processes of acculturation and assimilation in the American nation.  In addition, the course will focus on the nature of history -- what history is and how we write history.  While assessing what scholars have written about immigration in American history, students will develop, research, and write their own paper using primary and secondary sources and submit their final paper to classmates for peer-review.
