Graduate Affairs Committee

The Graduate Affairs Committee meets every fourth Tuesday, August — May and is the main graduate affairs governing and advisory body for the IUPUI campus.

Deans (or their representatives) from all schools represented on the IUPUI campus and Indiana University Graduate Council members from IUPUI make up the Graduate Affairs Committee. The Curriculum and Fellowship Committees are subcommittees of the GAC. Graduate Affairs Committee members' terms last as long as they are deans or representatives of an IUPUI school or as long as the term of their elected position (Graduate Council members hold 3-year terms).

News Update:

Nine new graduate programs are developed for IUPUI during the academic year 2009-2010. The Graduate Affairs Committee of IUPUI has approved and forwarded two PhD degrees (Urban Education, Health Policy & Management), a Master of Physician Assistant Studies, an MS in Event Tourism, two MA degrees (Art Therapy, Sports Journalism), and three graduate certificates (Global Health & Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation & Disability, Medical Dosimetry) during the academic year 2009-2010. The Graduate Office oversees the approval process for all graduate degrees on the IUPUI campus, using written evaluations from both internal and external reviewers. The Graduate Affairs Committee, which approves all proposals before they go to the Academic Leadership Council and to the Trustees is chaired by Sherry Queener, Director of the Graduate Office at IUPUI, and includes Dean of the University Graduate School James Wimbush, as well as representatives of the Dean of the Purdue University Graduate School.
