Student Success Series

Presented by University Library staff in collaboration with the IUPUI Graduate Office. These sessions are open to anyone who is interested in the topics. They are not restricted to graduate students or IUPUI students.

  • Endnote Web: The Basics - Wednesday October 25

    Wednesday, October 25th, 10:30am – 12:00pm  in IT 121

    Facilitator: Willie Miller, Assistant Librarian

    What you'll learn:

    • install and configure EndNote from the IUware website
    • learn to capture citation/bibliographic information
    • use word processing programs to reformat in-text citations and bibliographies
    • use a wide variety of style formats such as APA or Chicago
    • link references to files and web sites
    • add text to citations in “Cite While You Write”
    • work with footnotes in “Cite While You Write”
    • configure EndNote to retrieve full text articles from citations
    • create and share bibliographies using EndNote Web

    Tuesday, November 5th  1:30 – 2:30pm in IT 127

    Facilitator: Meagan Lacy, Assistant Librarian

    What you’ll learn:

    • features of EndNote & Zotero
    • learn to capture citation/bibliographic information
    • learn to use folders and tags to organize a library
    • use word processing programs to reformat in-text citations and bibliographies
    • use a wide variety of style formats such as APA or Chicago
    • become familiar with the Microsoft Word plugin
    • learn to use the “sync” feature to access citations on multiple computers
    • learn to create Zotero groups
    • learn to import/export citations into Zotero

  • Getting Published: Authorship for Graduate Students - Tuesday, November 5

    Tuesday, November 5th, 3:00 – 5:00 pm in UL 2120

    Facilitator: Jere Odell, Assistant Librarian

    Do you have great ideas that you'd like to share with researchers and readers in your field? Are you working on projects with faculty and others that will result in a poster or published article? Would you like to turn a great assignment, paper or thesis into a published work? In this workshop you will learn about the scholarly publishing process: how to get started, work with co-authors, select potential publishers, navigate peer review, negotiate your rights and promote your work to a broad audience.
