Assume your family is hosting a foreign exchange student for a few weeks. This student needs to know how to get from your home to your school. So, your homework for tonight is to make a map showing the route you take from your home to school each day. The foreign exchange student speaks and reads English very well but is not familiar with any of your community’s streets or buildings. Use the white 8 ½ by 11 sheet of paper attached to these instructions to convey as much clear information as possible. Make sure to include the following map essentials:
Compass Rose (Directional Arrow)
Route (suggestion: use a colored line or arrows)
You may try to include a map scale for
extra points. Use colored pencils, crayons, or markers appropriate
for the items on your map. You will be graded on neatness, map
essentials included, and accurate placement of buildings and streets.
You may need your parents help with street and building labels.
