For this trip, we chose a park that included numerous features that you can observe. The trip focuses on you learning to make careful observations about stream environments, karst landscapes and glacial deposits.
McCormick's Creek State Park
McCormick's Creek is located on the White River southwest of Indianapolis near the small town of Spencer. This park includes the White River, a variety of different types of stream environments, karst geology including the Wolf Cave Nature Preserve, and escarpments, waterfalls, and canyons (Indiana-sized canyons). McCormick's Creek is most famous for its waterfall, which is a short distance from the hotel within the park. In this field trip, you will visit a cave, waterfall, walk in a canyon, and visit an old quarry. To prepare for this trip, please click the "Content" tab and download the associated resources.
