Objectives

This section will help you to:

  • define way of knowing and discipline;
  • define Science and explain what science knows;
  • understand the assumptions and limitations of Science;
  • understand the causes of uncertainty and how it can be reduced;
  • explain and apply the Scientific Method;
  • explain and identify a scientific hypothesis and scientific theory, being able to differentiate them from common definitions;
  • write a hypothesis;
  • identify and give examples of pseudoscience; and
  • recognize where science ends.
