Tuition Fee Remission

A fee remission is an award for tuition and/or fees which can be awarded by the university, the state of Indiana, or by specific bequest. This allows students to enroll at a reduced or no cost tuition and/or fees at the expense of the university or state.

University departments issue fee remissions in exchange for services; University Human Resources offers the IU Tuition Benefit to full-time employees; their spouses or domestic partner and dependent children.  State fee remissions include 21st Century Scholars Grant; Child/Children of a Disabled Veteran; Indiana Purple Heart Recipients; the Indiana Soldiers & Sailors Children’s Home.  Fee remissions apply to tuition and the general fee and cannot be refunded if the combined amount of fee remissions exceeds tuition and the general fee.  Contact our office for specific information on receiving multiple fee remissions.
