General Information about Exit Counseling

An exit interview is required for all students who have received Federal Direct Loans, who are expected to graduate, or will be attending IUPUI as a less than half-time student. An exit interview is your opportunity to review the amount of your loans and rights and responsibilities in repaying these loans. Please note that exit counseling for Federal Direct Loans is different than exit counseling for federal Perkins Loans.

Federal Direct Loan Exit Counseling

IUPUI provides online Federal Direct Loan exit counseling. If you have been directed to complete a Federal Direct Loan exit interview, you can complete it by clicking on the link below. It should take approximately 30-40 minutes to complete the process.

To complete this important process online, visit StudentLoans.gov and click 'Sign In' to begin the process. You'll need your Department of Education FSA ID. Details on your loans, as well as repayment and consolidation options will be described in the counseling session.

Note: If you have other student loans (Perkins, Health Profession, Nursing or Indiana University Loans) you will be contacted to complete a separate exit process for these loans.

You will be able to view both your Federal Direct Loans and any loans you borrowed in the Federal Family Education Loan program.
