Students who may be covered under the Indiana National Guard portion of the CVO program

  • A child of a member of the Indiana National Guard who suffered a service connected death while serving on state active duty;

  • A spouse of a member of the Indiana National Guard who suffered a service connected death while serving on state active duty.

Some program restrictions apply and financial assistance is limited to a maximum of 124 credit hours. The child must be the biological child or legally adopted dependent child of the veteran. Spouses must have been married to the covered National Guard member at the time of death. The student must be regularly admitted as an in-state student to a public college and must maintain satisfactory academic progress while receiving the fee remission. Other restrictions may apply.

The submission of an Application for CVO Fee Remission Program (State Form 52363) (2012-2013 Application (State Form 52363)) which has been certified by the Indiana National Guard Joint Forces Headquarter Education Services Office and returned to the student to verify initial eligibility or when a student returns to IUPUI or IUPUC after a break in attendance (no enrollment for a Fall or Spring semester).


Additionally, students are required to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for each academic year. For maximum consideration for all types of student financial aid, submit the FAFSA by the March 10 priority application receipt deadline. At a minimum, SFA recommends submitting the FAFSA at least two weeks prior to the start of the semester.
