Summer 2008 Financial Aid
Eligibility
- You must complete the online Summer Aid 2008 Application in order to receive summer financial aid.
- You must have a valid Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2007/08 academic year on file prior to June 30, 2008.
- You must be admitted into a degree-seeking program and enrolled in at least 6 credit hours (undergraduates) or at least 4 credit hours (graduates) for the summer.
- You must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress in order to be eligible for aid.
- You must have completed any financial aid items on your OneStart To Do list.
Types of Aid Available for Summer
If you are awarded aid for the summer, you will receive a Financial Aid Notification (FAN) at your university email account. You can also check your awards via OneStart.
Student Loans
All students requesting summer aid will be evaluated for summer federal Stafford loan eligibility. If you received your full annual eligibility in federal Stafford loans during the academic year, you will not be eligible for federal Stafford loans in the summer.
New Borrowers:
After accepting and selecting your lender, you will receive an e-mail at your university email account instructing you how to complete the Master Promissory Note (MPN) for your loan. Your MPN must be completed and you must meet the eligibility requirements at the top of the page before your loans will be sent to the school.
Prior Borrowers:
If you borrowed a loan during the 2007/08 academic year, your loan will automatically be sent to the school if you meet the eligibility requirements at the top of the page. If you did not borrow during the 2007/08 academic year, please read the “New Borrowers” information above.
For most students, summer aid consists of private student loans and/or federal PLUS loans. Visit the links below for information and to apply:

The process of certifying Private Loan and Federal PLUS Loans will begin after March 18, 2008, and requires verification of Summer 2008 enrollment and meeting the previously listed eligibility standards.
Federal Pell Grants
Students who have additional federal Pell Grant eligibility for 2007/08 aid year are identified and awarded during the summer packaging process. Typically, full-time students that received federal Pell Grants for the Fall 2007 and Spring 2008 semesters do not have remaining eligibility for Summer 2008 federal Pell Grants.
Academic Competitiveness (ACG) Grant
Students who are enrolled full-time (12 semester hours) for summer and have additional federal ACG eligibility for the 2007/08 aid year are identified and awarded during the summer packaging process.
National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grant
Students who are enrolled full-time (12 semester hours) for summer and have additional federal SMART eligibility for the 2007/08 aid year are identified and awarded during the summer packaging process.
Federal Work Study (FWS)
If you received Federal Work Study (FWS) in the 2007/08 academic year and submit a summer application, you will be reviewed for FWS funding. If you are interested in summer FWS but did not receive FWS during the 2007/08 aid year, please send a summer 2008 FWS request for to us via Ask an Advisor. Your request will be reviewed to determine if you are eligible as well as the availability of FWS funding for additional awards.
Child of Veteran and Public Safety Officer Supplemental Grant Program
If you qualify for the Child of Veteran and Public Safety Officer Supplemental Grant Program (CVO) and have a valid 2007/08 FAFSA on file and a valid CVO program application for the 2007/08 aid year, your summer registration will prompt our office to apply this fee remission to your bursar account. In order to receive your CVO award, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards.
