The 2014-2015 Minority Teacher Scholarship application is now available on the Indiana Commission for Higher Education (CHE), Division of Student Financial Aid (SFA's) website.
To be eligible for consideration applicants must, among other criteria: be a minority student (defined as Black or Hispanic); pursing or intend to pursue a course of study that would enable the student, upon graduation, to teach in an accredited school in Indiana; and agree in writing to apply for a teaching position in an accredited school in Indiana following that student's certification as a teacher and, if hired, to teach for at least three years. The student's 2014-2015 FAFSA must be filed before they can complete the online application for this scholarship. The application for this scholarship must be completed online via the state of Indiana's website and the application must be submitted by Friday, October 4, 2014.
New Loan Origination Fees
The Loan Origination Fee is changing for Federal Direct Loans disbursed on or after October 1, 2014. For Subsidized/Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loans the new fee will be 1.073% and for Federal Parent/Grad PLUS Loans it will be 4.292%. NOTE: This change will not affect 2013-2014 academic year loans that have already had a fall disbursement.
2014-2015 Federal Direct Loan Interest Rates
For the 2014-2015 academic year federal student loan interest rates will be:
• 4.66% fixed for undergraduate level Subsidized
& Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loans
• 6.21% fixed for graduate level Unsubsidized
Federal Stafford Loans
• 7.21% fixed for Federal Parent PLUS Loans &
Federal Graduate PLUS Loans
