Loan Deferment Request for Enrolled Students

IUPUI has partnered with the National Student Clearinghouse to provide enrollment verification information for loan deferment to our student lenders. Information about what has been shared with your lender is available at any time from the National Student Clearinghouse website.

In most cases, students enrolled at least half-time (6 credits for undergraduate students and 4 credits for graduate students) are eligible for an in-school deferment on their federal student loans. With an in-school deferment, payments are temporarily postposed while you are in school. Most in-school deferements will be processed automatically by loan servicers. However, students are encouraged to check with their servicers to confirm the status of their loans. Students seeking a deferment for a private student loan should provide their lender with a copy of their enrollment verification certificate. You can access your enrollment verification information on One.IU.

Loan deferments processed via the National Student Clearinghouse are provided beginning Fall 2007 to the current term. For details about what information has been provided to your lenders, check the National Student Clearinghouse website.
