Following the selection of "N" as “51” at by the Faculty Council at their December 6, 2005 meeting and according to the number of voting faculty for the units according to the annual faculty census (Constitution I.B), there will be 39 Unit Representatives. As 15 unit representatives are currently serving terms which expire 6/31/07, 24 new Unit Representatives will need to be elected for the 7/1/06-6/30/08 terms. These 24 slots represent unit representatives whose terms expire in 6/06 as well as some vacancies that resulted from retirement or attrition. The Faculty Governance Leader for each unit should the report the results of the unit elections by their respective faculty organizations to the President of the Faculty through the Faculty Council Office (4.2215, UN 403, molmarti@iupui.edu) by 3/31/06.

*If a unit’s constitutional timeline for its internal elections prevents that unit from meeting

the 3/31/06 deadline, please contact the faculty council office

Since there are to be 39 Unit Representatives, there will also be 39 At-Large Representatives (Constitution IV.A.2.f).  As 20 At-Large Representatives are currently serving terms which expire 6/31/07, 19 At-Large Representatives will need to be elected for the 7/1/06-6/30/08 terms. After nominating ballots for the At-Large election have been returned, the Nominating Committee will construct a ballot and distribute it to the voting faculty. The 19 individuals receiving the most votes will serve as At-Large Representatives from 7/1/06-6/30/08 (Bylaw II.B).

For your information, there are also three non-voting ex officio members of the FC: the chair of the Senior Academy, and the presidents of the Staff Council and Student Assembly, respectively. There will also be two non-voting elected members in attendance for the 7/1/06-6/30/08 terms: a representative of IUPU Columbus and another for University College.
