NOTE: The number of faculty per unit listed is based on the number reported in 2003-04 and used in the December 2003 calculation of ‘N.’

 

NOTE:  # of Voting Faculty for the Schools of Law, Medicine and Dentistry include librarians appointed to those schools.  These librarians are not “double counted” and included in the # of Voting Faculty for University Library.

 

Units listed in bold type should hold elections within their respective schools on or before March 31, 2005 for the number of unit representative positions being vacated per the # in the column on the far right.

Per the selection of "N" as “51” at by the Faculty Council at their December 4, 2003 meeting and on the number of voting faculty for the units according to the October annual census (Constitution I.B), there will be 39 Unit Representatives. Because 22 Unit Representatives are already serving until 6/06, only 17 new Unit Representatives will need to be elected for 2005/06-2006/07. The Faculty Governance Leader for each unit should the report the results of the unit elections by their respective faculty organizations to the President of the Faculty through the Faculty Council Office (274.2215, UN 403, fcouncil@iupui.edu) by March 31, 2005.

 

Since there are to be 39 Unit Representatives, there are also to be 39 At-Large Representatives (Constitution IV.A.2.f), and since 20 At-Large Representatives are currently serving terms through 6/06, another 19 At-Large Representatives will need to be elected for 2005/06-2006/07. After nominations for the At-Large election have been returned, those 40 individuals with the highest number of nominations will be put on a ballot by the Nominating Committee and distributed to the voting faculty. The 19 individuals receiving the most votes will serve as At-Large Representatives for 2005/06-2006/07 (Bylaw II.B).

 

For your information, there are also three non-voting ex officio members of the FC: the chair of the Senior Academy, and the presidents of the Staff Council and Student Assembly, respectively. In 2005/06 there will also be two non-voting elected members in attendance: a representative of IUPU Columbus and another for University College.
