About the Frederick Douglass Papers Project:
Editing Historical Documents

When completed, this page will familiarize visitors and researchers with the discipline of editing historical documents.  No, it does not have to do with correcting Frederick Douglass's grammar, nor with making documentary films of Frederick Douglass's life, nor with archival preservation, although the name of the profession could easily lead a person to think so! This page will show visitors the steps in collecting, selecting, transcribing, and annotating historical documents, such as Frederick Douglass's letters, for publication.

Thank you for your patience.

This site is still under construction.
