Angela Espada serves as the Associate, Assistant Chancellor for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). She received A.A. and B.A. degrees from the University of Indianapolis. Ms. Espada also holds a M.A. in Higher Education from Indiana University and a J.D. from Indiana University School of Law – Bloomington.

Prior to joining DEI, Angela was selected to participate in the nation's premier professional development program for campus administrators, American Council on Education (ACE) as an ACE Fellow. She took a leave from of absence from her position as Associate Dean of Students for the IU School of Law - Indianapolis to work with former Secretary of Energy under President Clinton, Hazel O'Leary at Fisk University in Nashville, TN.

While at the law school, then Dean Espada was selected by her alma mater, the University of Indianapolis, as the Distinguished Alumni of the year for 2008. The IUPUI campus has also recognized Dean Espada with the Glenn W. Irwin Experience Excellence award and the Joseph E. Taylor Excellence in Diversity award. Ms. Espada has also been recognized by the Indiana State Bar Association for promoting diversity within the legal profession.

Before coming to the IUPUI campus, Angela Espada was a staff attorney for the Indiana Supreme Court. She has also practiced law as a deputy prosecuting attorney. Additionally, she has taught law-related courses at the undergraduate level at IUPUI, Indiana University-Bloomington and the University of Indianapolis.

She and her husband José, are the proud parents of Maya, who is a student at Harvard University.
